Blue Agave is expected to begin serving customers in far Northwest Austin later this month, with a projected opening date of Oct. 17, said owner Tasha Miller. The new restaurant will serve dishes like carnitas, enchiladas, quesadillas and more, as well as monthly and holiday drink specials.

“I really look forward to getting involved with the community and getting to know everyone in this area and really just building something that I would want to do if I lived here,” Miller said.

Meet the owner

Miller has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. In addition to Blue Agave, she also owns Pelons Tex Mex, Bar 508 Mezcalerita and 508 Coffee Shop in Austin.

“It makes me feel good to walk into the building and see people be genuinely happy [and] to have people really enjoy their job,” Miller said. “It's what I am modeling Blue Agave to be and it just makes me really happy and really proud.”

The celebration

Along with traditional dinner service, Miller plans to host special events like tequila dinners where patrons can enjoy a meal paired with specific types of tequila. Additionally, Blue Agave is expected to have a celebration for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos upon opening.

One more thing

Ahead of the restaurant’s grand opening, Blue Agave is hiring for servers, bartenders and cooks, according to its website.

“I look forward to focusing on building a staff who understands that hospitality is extremely important,” Miller said. “It's just as important as the food.”
