Cypress Creek’s Smokey Mo’s BBQ has reopened after undergoing renovations.

Some context

The location originally opened in 2008 and recently updated its counter experience, technology, pick-up stations and dining room.

The business has been in Cedar Park since the first Smokey Mo’s BBQ location opened in 2000. The business’ corporate offices are still housed in Cedar Park and a majority of the business’ employees live in the community.

CEO Craig Haley said the project is the first of many to come for the barbecue chain’s locations. He said they started renovations with the Cypress Creek location due to its impact in the community and history with the company.

“We have a high school down the road, ACC is right across the street and we’ve got the youth baseball fields right down the street,” Haley said. “We just felt like this store, with the way that they order food and get their food, that we could really grow it and feed a lot more people in the community.”

Another note

Barbecue is community based and meant to be shared with others and Cedar Park houses the perfect environment for Smokey Mo’s BBQ to continue this theme, Haley said.

“We have businesses, we have schools, we have hospitals and it’s such a growing community,” Haley said. “I think we fit into this community with our stated goal of being neighborhood barbecue and being the best neighborhood barbecue. We’re just really proud to be in Cedar Park.”

With 19 Central Texas locations the barbecue chain serves barbecue plates, sandwiches, baked potatoes and salad. Customers can try a variety of meats including brisket, sausage, turkey, jalapeño sausage, pork loin, pork ribs, pork burnt ends and chicken quarters.
