Enovis Corp., a multibillion dollar life sciences company, is expanding operations into Cedar Park, becoming the latest technology company to move to the area.

The two-minute impact

The city of Cedar Park announced the expansion in a news release Jan. 28. The $25.5 million facility is expected to create 162 jobs in the area, according to Daniel Sousa, Cedar Park’s assistant director of community affairs.

Enovis is hoping to lease Building 3 of the New Hope development, a 95-acre mixed-use property near the intersection of US 183A and New Hope Drive. The 100,000-square-foot building will allow prime commercial space for future growth, Sousa said.

Digging deeper

Enovis was founded as Colfax Holdings in 1995 and has since grown into a multibillion dollar corporation with more than 7,000 employees worldwide. The company specializes in medical technology, including orthopedics, prosthetics and high-tech medical equipment, and has also been involved in crafting nationwide medical education policy.

The Cedar Park facility will be an expansion of the company’s Austin-based surgical division, and will allow Enovis to increase its manufacturing output. The Cedar Park facility will be Enovis’ fifth location in Texas, joining Austin, Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth.

Arthur Jackson, chief economic development officer for Cedar Park, said he hopes Enovis’ expansion will continue to inspire tech companies to set up shop in the city.

“This investment not only brings high-quality jobs and innovation to our community, but also sets the foundation for Cedar Park to become a hub for the life sciences industry,” Jackson said in the release. “We’re building the infrastructure and momentum needed to attract more companies in this field and establish Cedar Park as a leader in cutting-edge medical and manufacturing advancements."

Zooming out

Enovis is one of many technology companies to migrate to Cedar Park in recent years, bolstering the city’s reputation as an emerging tech hub. On Jan. 9, Cedar Park City Council approved a new facility for Element USA, a rare earth metals refining corporation that develops components for electric cars and other technological innovations. The city is also home to Firefly Aerospace, auto parts manufacturer Hyliion Holdings Corp. and superconductor producer Hanyang Eng USA Inc, among others.
