The California-based treat shop Cookie Co. closed its Cedar Park location on March 30 after being open for about five months.

What happened?

The Cedar Park franchise location opened on Oct. 7 and was owned by Peder and Ashley McOmber.

The shop closed for financial reasons, Peder McOmber said, citing higher than expected operating costs.

It is uncertain if the shop will reopen with new owners at this time, company founder and CEO Matt Thomas said.

The background

Founded in 2020, the franchise offers gourmet cookies flavors, including French toast, M&M Explosion, sea salt and caramel, and pineapple upside-down cake.

The Georgetown location, which closed in July, was the first franchise location to open outside of California.

The company still has more than a dozen locations across the country, according to the website.
