The California-based treat shop Cookie Co. closed its Georgetown location in late July after being open for less than two years, but the franchise hasn't left Central Texas.

On Oct. 7, a new Cookie Co. location opened in the Lakeline area.

What happened?

The Georgetown location, which was situated within The Summit at Rivery Park development, closed because of low customer traffic, according to Cookie Co. founder Matt Thomas.

The background

Founded in 2020, the franchise offers gourmet cookies flavors, including French toast, M&M Explosion, sea salt and caramel, and pineapple upside-down cake.

The Georgetown location was the first franchise location outside of California, and since then, the company has expanded to more than 20 locations across the country.
