Local home shopping network Shop LC awarded three Round Rock ISD high school students $5,000 in scholarships between March 25-27.

While the three cash winners were RRISD students, students from Leander ISD also received honorable mentions.

The recipients are part of the company’s Fashion Collective Program, which is aimed toward students pursuing careers in fashion. Participants of the program have access to workshops, mentorship opportunities and hands-on experiences.

"We are excited to continue our support for budding fashion designers through the Fashion Collective Program," Shop LC President Vineet Ganeriwala said in the March 21 news release. "By offering scholarships to exceptional students, we hope to encourage and inspire the next generation of fashion innovators."

Giving back

Students had to demonstrate “outstanding performance and dedication” throughout the third season of the Fashion Collective Program as well as participate in the competition in order to be eligible for the scholarships, according to the release.

On March 25 and 27, Director of Communications Michelle Long visited the following LISD and RRISD high schools to recognize the scholarship winners and honorable mentions:
  • Cedar Ridge
  • Round Rock
  • Vandegrift
  • Vista Ridge
  • Westwood
Long said the winners and the honorable mentions will have an opportunity to make royalties on the sale of their designs if Shop LC chooses to manufacture and sell the products on the company network or website.

"We believe in the power of education and are proud to invest in the future of these talented young individuals," she said. "We hope these scholarships will provide them with the support they need to further their education and pursue their dreams in the fashion industry."
