Texas Original, an Austin-based medical cannabis company, opened its fourth location in Central Texas to serve as a prescription pickup location in North Austin.

Texas Original provides Texas-grown medical cannabis to its patients throughout the state who fall under the Texas Compassionate Use Program and have a prescription from a clinic or local physician registered with the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas.

Some of the conditions that are legally able to be treated in Texas include post-traumatic stress disorder, cancer, spasticity, neuropathy, epilepsy and other neurodegenerative diseases, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety website.

“We are the leaders of medical cannabis cultivation and distribution in Texas, starting with our hometown of Austin,” Texas Original CEO Nico Richardson said in a news release Sept. 27. “We opened the first public medical cannabis dispensary in the state in South Austin, where we served our first patient in 2018. Since then, we have continued to lead by example, providing the best possible access to life-changing medicine for all eligible Texans. Opening a full-time pickup location that serves our growing community in North Austin and its surrounding suburbs is another step toward creating comprehensive medical cannabis access for all patients throughout Texas.”
