With two state deadlines passed to file their campaign finance reports before the May 6 election, Bee Cave City Council candidates have received major contributions from residents as well as local businesses, developers and data center companies. Here are the total in-kind—or actual goods and services—contributions and monetary campaign contributions tallies for each of the five candidates vying for a seat on the dais. Candidates are listed in the order they appear on the May 6 ballot. All candidates are at-large positions.
Marie Lowman (incumbent): $1,447.13 total contributions
Kara King (incumbent): $5,200 total contributions
David K. Busch (challenger): $ 2,448.24 total contributions
*IDM is a company owned by Christopher Milam that is slated to develop two Bee Cave development districts: The Backyard, which includes two data centers, a distributed energy center, a hotel, outdoor music venues and office buildings; and The Terraces, with a condominium/townhouse complex Ethan's View, office buildings and a restaurant. The data centers and distributed energy center were changed from the site's original plan to house movie studios. Bee Cave City Council approved this substantially amended plan Dec. 14. Busch said a $2,500 pledge originally made by IDM was rejected in lieu of a $1,837.16 in-kind donation by Ethan's View for flyers. Additionally, he said the second filing superseded his first filing; as such, Glenn Smith donated a $200 check which Busch said he has not cashed as well as $211.08 in in-kind contributions.
