A new St. David's HealthCare emergency center marks the third medical group announcing additions to the city of Buda in the last month. St. David’s HealthCare announced Wednesday it will begin construction on its first emergency enter in Buda later this month. The announcement follows the groundbreaking of Baylor Scott & White Health's new hospital and Ascension Seton Health Care Center Wednesday morning in Buda. St. David’s Emergency Center Buda will serve as an extension of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, a Level II trauma center. Todd Steward, chief executive officer of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, said in a news release as Buda grows, the need for advanced, comprehensive emergency care becomes more apparent. “St. David’s South Austin Medical Center has long been a leader in providing quality healthcare and exceptional outcomes to patients in Central Texas, and this new center will allow us to bring that same level of expertise to the residents of Buda,” he said. St. David’s Emergency Center Buda, located at 15610 I-35, Buda, will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the release. The full-service, free-standing emergency department will be staffed by board-certified physicians and nurses trained in trauma care. It will feature 12 treatment beds; a CT scanner; advanced testing capabilities, including radiological testing; and a medical lab. Patients requiring inpatient care will be transported from the facility to area hospitals. The ER center will open in early 2019.
