Sustainable Food Center Farm Stand[/caption]

Farm stands

Managed by the Sustainable Food Center and GO Austin!/¡ VAMOS Austin!, farm stands are resident-run markets strategically located in areas easily walkable by residents of the community.

Fresh produce from local Central Texas farmers is sold at a reduced price, making it more affordable than the traditional farmers’ market.

Farm stands offer seasonal produce which are sourced through Johnson’s Backyard Garden, a community-supported agriculture operation in East Austin.

Guests to the market will often find fruits and vegetables such as carrots, beets, lettuce, cilantro, onions, grapefruit, spinach, kale, potatoes, zucchini and squash. Produce offerings are dependent on seasonality, so what is available changes from month to month.

Most stands accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits and Women, Infants and Children benefits. The Double Dollars program is also offered at most farm stands, wherein the SFC will match SNAP and WIC benefits up to $30 per family each week.

Farm stands located on school sites are closed during school holidays and summer vacation.
