Cybersecurity company CipherLoc Corp. now calls Buda home after relocating from Las Vegas in August.

CipherLoc specializes in software to protect data, said Mike Salas, vice president of marketing and sales.

“Any time you think about needing to have information protected and kept secure, whether it be credit card or health records or private messages, we have a set of technology that offers a very high level of data protection,” he said.

The company currently has 12 employees, and anticipates at least doubling within the next 6 months and hiring upwards of 30 new employees over the next year, Salas said. Most of those hires will be from the local area, he said.

As the company begins to expand and grow, CipherLoc hopes their proximity to Austin will help them recruit talent.

“Specifically, we’re looking for software engineers and folks who have security experiences in their background,” Salas said. “That kind of talent exists [in Austin]. [Moving to this area] gives us great access to that talent pool.”

Buda is a great community to be based out of, Salas said.

“We love it here, and we believe this an attractive place to set up,” he said. “It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find affordable places near the downtown core of Austin. Buda is a great place to get out of the noise and concentration of the city.”
