Since opening in Lakeway on Aug. 23 Liberty Barbershop owner Tyler Beswick said he has been busier than he anticipated. "I just wanted to pay the bills the first year and hopefully by the third would be fairly comfortable, but since that first day we have picked up more and more [business]." Beswick said the growth is because the shop is truly an old-fashioned barbershop, much like the ones he grew up with in Chicago. "I was raised on the south side of Chicago where you got a good haircut at a reasonable price and some good conversation," he said. "I think that is why people like coming in. I want to be that shop that knows you, knows your children, knows your grandpa and grows with you." Beswick said the shop wants to be a part of the community, and he started by offering free haircuts to first-responders on Sept. 11. The response went so well that he plans to offer free haircuts to police and fire personnel for the entire week of Sept. 11, 2015. "To me success is having a thriving community barbershop," he said. 107 S. RR 620, Ste. 115, Lakeway, 512-494-6295, www.libertybarbershoptexas.com
