Hays Co. BBQ & Catering

Michael and Asenette Hernandez, owners of Hays Co. BBQ, had a big year in 2013. In May their restaurant was named one of the top 50 barbecue restaurants in the state by Texas Monthly and at the end of the year, the duo closed their former location on Hunter Road and reopened on I-35 in San Marcos. Michael and Asenette are planning to serve up the same dishes that put their restaurant on the map, albeit with a few additions.

In 2014, the restaurant is adding beer and wine to its menu, hosting live music throughout the week and installing a children's playscape outside.

"By the time summer rolls around, we'll be full-throttle with events and music," Michael said.
