Bastrop business Texas Classic Custom Homes is collecting toys and donations for children of military families stationed at Fort Cavazos, formerly Fort Hood. Texas Classic Custom Homes representatives will hand-deliver gifts to 300 children on Dec. 15.

Donation boxes can be found at the Texas Classic Custom Homes office as well as at the chamber of commerce office, Nik Shehu Realty and The Hair Studio. Texas Classic Custom Homes will accept gifts and donations through Dec. 14. All donated toys should be unwrapped.

“We can add a little extra or take a little pressure off of the parents,” said Philip Ozorkiewicz, an employee at Texas Classic Custom Homes. “We're happy to be able to do that.”

The backstory

Last year, Texas Classic Custom Homes provided gifts for 36 families. The idea came from the company building a house for a client stationed at the base.

“Whether soldiers are shipped overseas or not, they're still sacrificing their lives and their time to help protect those freedoms,” Ozorkiewicz said. “We're very grateful for that.”
