Bastrop County high school students are not the only ones getting ready for prom—Argent Court Assisted Living residents are making plans ahead of their senior prom set for April 18 from 5-8 p.m.; however, they need the community's help.

Some context

This will be the first event of its kind hosted by Argent Court. Administrator Amber Torices said they thought it would be a great way for residents to not only connect with their loved ones, but also make new friends with members of the community.

Current situation

Concierge Manager Seidy Torres-Garcia recently facilitated an in-house shopping day for residents to pick their outfits and jewelry for the upcoming big day.

Residents spent the afternoon trying on gowns and browsing the most popular donations—costume jewelry, such as rings and bracelets, to give their outfits that extra sparkle.

However, Torres-Garcia said even with the donations received as of April 15, more are essential, noting that there is a great need for larger-sized men's dress shirts and women's dresses.

How to help

Community members and business owners can donate by dropping off their items at the facility, 508 Old Austin Highway, behind H-E-B.

"We will gladly accept them at the front desk," Torres-Garcia said. "We appreciate everyone's help making this day special."

What else?

Aside from clothing and costume jewelry donations, community members are encouraged to attend the prom, Torres-Garcia said.

"We hope to see everyone there having fun," she said.

The night will be filled with music, dancing and snacks from local vendors, Torices said—along with long-lasting memories for everyone involved.
