The inaugural Festival de la Cultura will take place at Mayfest Park on April 27-28. A family-friendly event, a petting zoo and a live cultural dance performance will be part of the weekend’s festivities.

Micheal Durant is helping organize the event, which celebrates the growing Hispanic population in Bastrop County and the surrounding areas, Durant said.

“The big thing is that, in the music side, ... we wanted to have a diversity of music, celebrating culture,” Durant said.

What to expect

Musical artists Little Joe y La Familia, Del Castillo, La Diferencia, and Eztilo will perform at the event. Musicians Rey Arteaga Son y No Son, La Dinastia Aguirre, Cojunto Cats, Clarissa Serna, Family Jewelz, and One Luke are also set to perform.
