Local nonprofit Family Crisis Center will host its annual Cookies and Cocoa event at Lumberyard Music Hall, 1109 Main St., in Bastrop on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

In a nutshell

Planned each year by the Bastrop High School Youth Advisory Committee as one of its community service projects, the free family-friendly event partners with local bakers to offer free treats and hot chocolate to attendees.

Other activities planned for the day include:
  • Photos with Santa Claus
  • Letter writing to the North Pole
  • Cakewalks
  • Arts and crafts
  • Games
Family Crisis Center officials said although the event is geared toward families with children, people of all ages are welcome to join in on the festivities.
