10 Bastrop ISD projects to be completed in 2024

Bastrop ISD experienced a nearly 30% increase in student enrollment in the past decade. With a projected 15,500 students expected to be enrolled in BISD by 2027-28, the district’s schools are undergoing numerous renovation and construction projects.

Old Iron Bridge construction to be completed by April 2027


The Old Iron Bridge will undergo repairs and repainting by engineering consultant Huitt-Zollars Inc. for $1.13 million. Previous work by the company includes the Margaret Hunt Hill and Margaret McDermott bridges in Dallas.

Bastrop Old Iron Bridge repairs are on the agenda for the Jan. 9 City Council meeting. Engineering design is scheduled to be completed in March 2025 followed by the completion of construction in April 2027.

Agnes Street expansion approved

Agnes Street will be converted from its existing two-lane design to a four-lane roadway from Seton Hospital Drive to Hwy. 304. The widening project will match the design of the road’s planned extension to Seton Hospital Drive.


Construction is expected to begin soon after the final design in April and projected to last 12-16 months.
