Bastrop’s population is estimated to double within the near future. Several developments are underway in Bastrop to address the growing need.

Further developments are currently in the planning stage, City Manager Sylvia Carrillo said.

“I think we’re going to get to 40,000 residents sooner than folks actually think,” Carrillo said at the Oct. 24 City Council meeting.

The details

New developments are projected to build over 1,000 homes within the city along with smaller developments on Lovers Lane and Pine Forest neighborhoods.
  • An 87-acre development of FM 969, Valverde includes a plan for 352 residential lots as part of a residential neighborhood.
  • Located off FM 20, plans for the Adleton residential development include a community pool, an outdoor pavilion, playground and sports courts.
  • Annexations east of Adleton have the potential to welcome 2,500 new living unit equivalents, or LUEs, to the city of Bastrop system.
  • The Ironwood development off of Shiloh Road development will have a projected 1,100 LUEs.
  • About 50 new townhomes were recently annexed off Lovers Lane.
  • Pine Forest Neighborhood 6 is expected to see an increase of 396 lots to the city of Bastrop.
“These are actual developments in the pipeline,” Carrillo said at the Oct. 24 City Council meeting. “We have many, many more where we have done predevelopment meetings that are not showing up on this list.”
