Three months after celebrating the grand opening of Ham Bonz Soul Food, husband and wife John Sanders and Marsha Jenkins-Sanders will commemorate the restaurant's ribbon-cutting with an expanded menu.

What's happening?

Ham Bonz Soul Food will host its ribbon-cutting and introduce an expanded menu Jan. 17 from 3-4 p.m. at the restaurant, 141 Tahitian Drive, Ste. A, Bastrop.

The details

Since its opening, Ham Bonz Soul Food has offered traditional soul food entrees, including Mo-T's Fried Chicken, Cheryl's Country Wings, Braggin' Rights Baked Chicken and Country-Fried or Southern Smothered Poke Chops.

"At our ribbon-cutting, we will introduce samples of our new meatloaf and cubed steak along with two desserts," Jenkins-Sanders said.

Jenkins-Sanders said these items will be added to the menu going forward; the meatloaf will come with mashed potatoes, and the cubed steak will come with steamed rice.

What else?

With the exception of Tuesdays when the restaurant is closed, Ham Bonz Soul Food offers a daily lunch special for $12.99, which includes one protein, one side, cornbread and a drink. The special is also available as a late-night option on Fridays and Saturdays from 9-10 p.m.

After the ribbon-cutting, Jenkins-Sanders said the restaurant will begin offering 10% discounts from 2-4 p.m. for first responders on Mondays, seniors on Wednesdays, and military and veterans on Thursdays.
