The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce received an accreditation with four-star distinction from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The accreditation recognizes chambers for outstanding contributions to positive change in the community.

One of only 44 accredited chambers in the state, the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce is one the few chambers to meet the accreditation’s standards. Only 3% of chambers that apply receive the accreditation.

The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce represents about 800 members with businesses representing over 9,500 jobs. Becki Womble is the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce president and CEO.

“The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce is proud to have achieved this four-star distinction, which underscores its commitment to fostering a thriving business environment in Central Texas and beyond, and to supporting the Bastrop community's growth and prosperity,” Womble said in a news release.

The road to the chamber’s accreditation began in 2014 when it was brought forward by the Bastrop board of directors. From there, the goal for applying for the accreditation was incorporated into the chamber’s 2019 strategic plan.

“Accreditation is a significant accomplishment for the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce,” Womble said in the release.
