The overview
It’s a family-owned business: Autumn Pyka, her husband and her brother-in-law run the pumpkin patch each year at the Community Gardens.
“[When] we started off, we would get nine bins of pumpkins the very first year, and now we get an entire semi[truck full],” Autumn Pyka said. “It's crazy how much we've grown in the past six years.”
Pyka said over 10,000 pumpkins will be at this year's pumpkin patch.
“It's really evolved and grown every year,” Pyka said. “It's something that people are looking forward to every year. So we're getting bigger and better—literally bigger and better every single year.”
What to expect
A full bar and restaurant is available at the Community Gardens, plus fall-themed drinks at the on-site coffee shop, such as a pumpkin spice latte or the Witches Brew.
Pumpkin painting and a bounce house are available for children. A small train ride is also included in the ticket price.
“People can just come, and they spend all day,” Pyka said. “Kids get to have a really great time.”
Each weekend, the pumpkin patch donates 10% of its proceeds to different organizations in Bastrop.
“We always say we like party with a purpose,” Pyka said.
Throughout the year, the Community Gardens hosts a variety of events, including a holiday market in December as well as a home and garden show in the spring.
