A slate of park improvement projects is transforming outdoor spaces across Bastrop—upgrades that include new amenities, refreshed play areas and more inclusive design elements.

The approximately $2.9 million in improvements are being made at four parks:
- Fireman’s Park, 600 Hill St., Bastrop
- Cost: $256,615
- Timeline: select areas under construction March 9-April 13
- Fisherman’s Park, 1200 Willow St., Bastrop
- Cost: $661,253
- Timeline: restricted access around the splash pad parking lot March 2-May 18
- Mayfest Park, 25 American Legion Drive, Bastrop
- Cost: $250,048
- Timeline: select areas under construction March 9-April 13
- Minerva Delgado Park, 709 Laurel St., Bastrop
- Cost: $1.7 million
- Timeline: closed Feb. 23-May 18
“Each brings something special to look forward to,” the city of Bastrop said in a statement.
Some background
Bastrop City Council approved the purchasing contract for the park improvements—which range from new themed structures to splash pads and more—during an Oct. 21 meeting.
“Council had the opportunity to borrow some money with no impact to the tax rate, and also had the ability to pay down other debt because of some savings we did in the debt fund,” Bastrop City Manager Sylvia Carrillo-Trevino said during her State of the City address in early September.

- An all-abilities playground, splash pad and pavilion at Minerva Delgado Park
- A renovated splash pad at Fisherman’s Park
- New playgrounds at Fireman’s Park and Mayfest Park
