City of Bastrop officials are urging community members to consider applying for over vacant 40 positions in various boards and commissions.

Two minute-impact

The application deadline was set for Aug. 15; however, Mayor Lyle Nelson said during the Sept. 17 Bastrop City Council meeting, that not enough applications were received to move forward with the process.

"I am imploring, begging, asking," Nelson said. "I have 26 applications to fill 43 positions. My high school math says that doesn't compute quite that well."

A new deadline has not been set.

Those interested can fill out an application online at the city's website.

Applicants can select up to three boards and commissions, in order of preference.


Questions on the application include why they are interested, what relevant experience, knowledge or education they have, and what they will bring to the table.
