Some context
The fundraiser brings in the largest aid for the pantry each year and allows attendees to select and fill hand-painted ceramic bowls with local soups, stews, chilis and more.
Kelly Manfredini, Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry director of marketing, said the event is also a “battle of the ladles.”
Judges and attendees can vote for the “best of” and “fan favorites” in a range of categories.Lend a hand
A silent auction will happen throughout the afternoon showcasing local artists and businesses.
“We are looking for artwork, home goods, experiences, gift cards or themed baskets,” Manfredini said, noting that some of the most popular baskets are themed around universities.
“We usually get something from [The University of Texas] and [Texas A&M University] alumni, but would welcome any other alumni that would like to compete for which school's alumni basket raises the most,” she said.
