Where to recycle Christmas trees in Bastrop County

Following the holiday season, city officials set up free Christmas tree recycling spots in Bastrop and Elgin.

All natural, unflocked trees will be accepted; however, lights, tinsel, ornaments and stands must be removed beforehand.

City of Bastrop

Bastrop city officials will accept Christmas trees through Jan. 17. The drop-off area can be found in the Little League parking lot near the Public Works yard at 1209 Linden St., Bastrop.

City of Elgin

Elgin residents can drop off their trees through Jan. 24 in the west parking lot of Elgin Memorial Park at the Elgin Park & Ride at the intersection of Hwy. 95 and Main Street.

According to a news release, the mulch will be used in upcoming park projects.
