Bastrop Public Library is set to host its annual Holiday Open House with live music, snacks, letters to Santa Claus and a graham cracker house decorating contest.

What's happening?

The library is participating in the Great City Decorating Contest, which pits city departments against one another to see who can create the most festive graham cracker house.

In a news release, library officials said they have stocked up on 300 houses to decorate with frosting, candies and more. Each hour from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 60 people will be invited into the meeting room to decorate, and a limited number of take-home decorating kits will also be available.

"The competition is fierce, so be ready to make the hard decision," officials said. "The winners will receive Facebook fame, a fabulous trophy and bragging rights for the entire year."

The day will also be filled with holiday music by local artists, including:
  • 10 a.m.: Terry Moore Trio
  • 11 a.m.: Max Butler
  • Noon: Ben Zuniga
  • 1 p.m.: The Honor Choir
  • 2 p.m.: Mary Smith
