Bastrop County residents can drop off old paint for proper disposal at the county's upcoming household hazardous waste collection event on Oct. 12.

The upcoming event is for latex and oil-based:
  • Paints
  • Stains
  • Aerosols—paint and cleaning
  • Preservatives—varnish and poly
What you should know

The event is free for those living within Bastrop or Lee counties, or the cities of Bastrop and Smithville, according to the county website.

Everyone must pre-register to receive a voucher, which can be accessed online and sent to Amy Turner, environmental investigator, at [email protected].


Alternatively, vouchers can be picked up at the following locations, including:
  • Bastrop County Development Services Office, 211 Jackson St., Bastrop
  • Smithville City Hall, 317 Main St., Smithville
  • Lee County Annex, 898 E. Richmond St., Giddings

Residential verification in the form of a utility bill or driver's license will be required, according to the county website.

"We are also looking for volunteers to help," officials with Keep Bastrop County Beautiful posted on social media. "Volunteers don’t need a voucher, and can take home items."
