Check out these 10 events in the Bastrop area from Oct. 12-Oct. 31. In addition to spooky holiday events, community members can learn more about the Indigenous community, catch a play and more.

Indigenous Peoples Day

The event will highlight the heritage and contributions of the Indigenous community. It will feature activities for all ages, guest speakers, artifact displays, documentary screenings, music and children’s activities.

Author Reading: "Dreams of Arcadia"

Local author Brian Porter will discuss his first book and read a short excerpt from it in the Pressley Room. The book follows veterinarian Nate Holub as he explores life in his late father’s hometown and reconnects with family, unveiling dark secrets. Holub will also be signing books and visiting with guests throughout the evening. Attendees can expect light refreshments.


"Wait Until Dark"

Directed by Christine Long and written by Frederick Knott, this play follows the story of two crooks, Susan and Sam Hendrix. Attendees can expect themes of deception and suspense. Children under the age of three are not permitted in the venue.

Bastrop Art Fest

Attendees can expect to see arts and crafts vendors, hands-on activities, glassblowing demonstrations, a bronze pour demonstration and performances by Bastrop High School’s Bear Stage Theater Company and Austin’s Okinawa Tomonokai Dance Ensemble. There will also be artisan pizzas by Slice Society.


Adoption Extravaganza

The event hosted by Bastrop Animal Services will feature a variety of dogs up for adoption. Kittens will also be available for adoption if the shelter is housing any at the time of the event. All animals will be spayed or neutered and have a microchip, vaccinations, dewormer, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and heartworm testing.

Hometown Holiday Market

The market will feature clothing, accessories, home and holiday decor, gourmet food, candles and more. The venue will be decorated with Christmas decorations. Admission is valid for both days of the event. Admission is only $7 if attendees provide a non-perishable food donation to the food bank.

Bastrop Votes Breakfast

The voting promotion event will feature a group breakfast. Afterwards, all people in attendance will walk to the Bastrop County Courthouse to cast ballots for the Nov. 5 election.

Equine First Aid Fundamentals

This fast-paced clinic hosted by Equi First Aid ATX will teach attendees what their vet needs to know when they call, how to take proper vital signs, recognize pain in a horse, learn how to handle lacerations, punctures and colic and practice bandage techniques. A portion of each registration fee will be donated to Restoration Ranch, an equine learning center for veteran families.


Copper Shot annual Halloween party

Individuals are encouraged to dress as their favorite movie character. There will be photo ops and live music performed by Rock House, a cover band for '80s, '90s and '00s music.

Halloween Spooktacular

Attendees can expect a not-so-scary haunted house, a scary haunted house and spooky treats offered by Bastrop Cafe and barbecue plates available for purchase.
