With all precincts reporting in Bastrop County, Republican incumbent Stan Gerdes has secured the win for Texas House District 17 with 59.24% of the vote. Democratic opponent Desiree Venable trailed behind with 40.76% of the vote.
Overall, 65.05% of registered voters in Bastrop County Cast their ballots in the Nov 5 election.

As votes roll in, Republican incumbent Stan Gerdes is maintaining his lead with 69.45% of the vote in the race for Texas House District 17.
All precincts have reported in Burleson, Lee and Milam counties, but Bastrop and Caldwell counties have just one precinct reporting between them. In total, 43 out of 98 precincts have reported.

Early voting results are showing Republican incumbent Stan Gerdes leading with 69.43% of votes in the race for Texas House District 17.
Gerdes is being challenged by Democrat Desiree Venable. Texas House District 17 comprises Bastrop, Burleson, Caldwell, Lee and Milam counties.
Caldwell County has not reported any voting numbers yet.

On his campaign site, Gerdes said the conservative policy he has helped pass has protected Texas from federal interference.
Gerdes’s campaign site says he will fight to keep the Texas economy “booming.” Another of the main points on the site is that he will fight for more property tax cuts.
Venable said false narratives and misinformation have been allowed to “divide our nation.” Her website said she will shift focus from infighting and onto holding politicians accountable “for their failures."
Venable said she will advocate for a new generation.
“Year after year, our elected officials stray further away from representing the desires of the constituents who gave them their power,” her site reads.
