Elections Administrator Kristin Miles said over 50% of registered Bastrop County voters cast their ballots during early voting, which ended on Nov. 1.
On the ballot
Locally contested races include County Commissioner, Precinct 1 and County Constable, Precinct 2. Other items on the ballot include a possible addition of Emergency Services Department No. 3, and 13 charter amendments, including a potential change to misdemeanor marijuana charges.Key dates
- Nov. 5: Election Day
- Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.: Deadline for voters to return mail-in ballots
- Nov. 12: Deadline for mail-in ballot voters to fix errors
Bastrop County participates in the Countywide Polling Place Program, which allows voters to use any polling location within their county rather than being required to stay within their precinct.

When voting, residents must present a photo ID, which can include one of the following:
- Texas driver’s license
- Texas Election Identification Certificate
- Texas personal identification card
- Texas handgun license issued by DPS
- United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
- United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
- United States passport
- Birth certificate
- Current utility bill
- Bank statement
- Government check
- Paycheck
- Government document that shows the voter’s name and an address—including the voter’s registration certificate
