All polling locations in Bastrop County are reporting results from the May 28 primary runoff election.

According to unofficial results, Butch Carmack has won the Republican Bastrop County Precinct 1 commissioner race, pulling ahead of opponent Dominica McGinnis with 53.44% to her 46.56%.

"This was an amazing experience—the best part was meeting so many wonderful people. Thank you for your support, hundreds of phone calls, enduring the heat, encouragement and prayers," McGinnis said in a Facebook post.

Carmack has not responded to Community Impact's request to comment on the election.

What else?

Carmack will face off against Democratic candidate Joseph B. Thompson, who ran unopposed in the March 5 Primary election, in the November general election.

McGinnis and Carmack gained the majority of votes in the Republican March 5 primary election over candidate Charles Brading, who did not secure enough votes to participate in the May 28 runoff.
