A plan of action to improve performance is required by the state for campuses that score an "F" rating in accountability.
What you need to know
Trustees approved targeted improvement plans for Camino Real Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary, Lost Pines Elementary, Red Rock Elementary and Bastrop Middle School on Nov. 18.
Targeted improvement plans are similar to campus improvement plans, and include an element of federal accountability intervention, such as for Title I campuses.
The details
Kendra Monk, BISD's director of leadership development and school improvement, provided a broad view of what these plans look like for trustees.
The goal of each campus's TIP is to improve performance to a "C" or higher in state accountability, Monk said, with each campus undergoing an "intense" adjustment to curriculum and instruction.
Plans also include professional development support for teachers and staff, she said.
The TIP plans will utilize State Compensatory Education Funding, Monk said, which is used to fund strategies preventing students from dropping out of school.
What they're saying
"Overall, our goal with our state comped funding is to find a result of higher student achievement and to provide challenging and meaningful instructional programs and services that will close the achievement gap between students at risk of dropping out of school and their peers," Monk said.
