The details
Texas Original, which relocated its headquarters to Bastrop, expanded from a 7,700-footprint to a 75,000-square-foot facility where the cannabis is sungrown, according to a news release.
The facility, currently hiring maintenance technicians and manufacturing operators, is located at 176 FM 969, Bastrop and has the capacity for:
- A hybrid greenhouse for plant cultivation
- Manufacturing labs for extraction
- Processing and refining
- Testing labs
- Packaging
- Dispensing
- Distribution
- Delivery logistics
Nico Richardson, CEO of Texas Original, called the facility “the future of medical cannabis in Texas.”
“Our expanded operations in Bastrop allow us to serve even more patients across the state, and with the quality expected from Texas Original,” he said in a news release. “As legislative changes under House Bill 46 create opportunities for more Texans to access medical cannabis, we’re ready to meet that need.”

HB 46 is a state law passed this spring that allows physicians to prescribe medical-grade, low-THC products to eligible patients in partnership with licensed dispensaries.
Eligible patients include those with a range of conditions, such as:
- Chronic pain
- Crohn’s disease
- Terminal illnesses
- Epilepsy
- Cancer
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
Texas Original will transform its former headquarters at 12701 Lowden Lane, Austin into a satellite location where patients can pick up their prescriptions.
It would join Texas Original’s other nearly-20 satellite locations throughout the state.
“Together, these operational enhancements reinforce Texas Original’s commitment to delivering life-changing medicine to patients across Texas,” Texas Original said in the release.
