Some background

During a meeting July 28, BCEFP Executive Director Tresha Silva shared with the Bastrop County Commissioners Court that the $7.5 million project—financed through grants, individual donations, business partnerships and in-kind donations—will allow the nonprofit organization to have a larger service capacity.

“The need continues to grow, but so does our commitment,” said Silva, who noted that BCEFP’s efforts have not halted during construction.

BCEFP has provided approximately 2.2 million pounds of food over the past five years with more than 400,000 pounds distributed in 2025, according to the nonprofit organization.

“None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community,” Silva said.

The outlook

The facility at the existing location at 806 Fayette St. in Bastrop will be repurposed.

“Once we transition out of our current location on Fayette Street, crews will begin working and remodeling the space into our new Community Education Center,” Silva said.
