The details
Liberty Dance Center—currently located at 623 Hwy. 71 W., Ste. 104, Bastrop—partnered with Smithville-based Dumbeck Custom Homes for the project, which will involve the buildout of a 4,980-square-foot metal building.
Owner and Director Marisa Bain told Community Impact the project is progressing well, and she is looking forward to soon offering a larger space for her students as well as their parents.
“My favorite part about running Liberty Dance Center is not even necessarily about teaching the different forms of dance,” she said. “It’s also about bringing them into a safe space where they can dance, have fun and learn life skills. We’re helping nourish these kids by teaching them manners, discipline and grit—all of the things they can take with them in life.”
Zooming in
Bain noted that Liberty Dance Center, named after her daughter, has truly built a community, as there is a high retention rate of students throughout her classes.
“Some of these families were with me when this all started out so small,” she said. “Now, they’re with me seven, eight or even nine years later, and they always tell me how amazing it is to see what we have grown into.”
Bain plans to celebrate the groundbreaking with a party at a future date.
