The background
Owner Heather Hamrick opened the business once she relocated back to Bastrop after closing her previous bottle shop business in Cedar Park.
The bar offers 28 beers on tap and nearly 160 individual beers. Hamrick said a customer favorite is the Electric Jellyfish, a hazy IPA from Pint House Pizza located in Austin. In addition to its drink selection, customers can enjoy a pretzel, a pickle or popcorn from the business’ snack menu.
“What Bastrop Beer Company does is give people a space to experiment with different drinks that they may not have had before,” Hamrick said. “Most of the beer that I serve is coming from breweries and we offer them a fun space to try all of those without having to leave Bastrop.”

“It’s literally a place you can go with your entire family, enjoy a cold beer or wine and your kids can play pinball machines,” Hamrick said.

Located in the business hub of the city, Hamrick said the community has accepted the bar with open arms. Bastrop residents have cultivated a bond with the establishment and its team, she said.
“We’ve been called the ‘Cheers’ of Bastrop because we have so many locals that love coming in here and chatting with our staff, trying new beers that you may not be able to get somewhere else,” Hamrick said. “Even if you could, you don’t get the atmosphere we provide here.”

Hamrick said she has dreams of expanding the business by adding an additional location so community members can enjoy its offerings without having to drive into the main portion of town.
“I would love to open another location that would serve more outside the county,” Hamrick said. “That would be amazing for people who don’t necessarily want to come all the way downtown to Main Street.”
