Some context
Funded through a campaign by the opera house, as well as support from the city of Bastrop, the first phase is expected to begin by early March and end around six months later, said executive director Lisa Holcomb.“We want to create a seamless space that serves as the heart of a historic theatre district for Bastrop,” Holcomb said. “We want all of downtown to reap the benefits of having a new, exciting space where we can host music and where we can host meetings."
Those interested in donating to the project can do so online.

Holcomb said the additional space will provide:
- A dedicated space for youth programs
- More rehearsal space
- Expanding opportunities for performances and community engagement
- A cultural gathering spot
In their own words
“Theatre is more than just entertainment—it's about connection, education, and history,” Holcomb said. “Bastrop doesn't have a designated historic theatre district yet, but this project could change that. It's a way to honor our past while building something truly special for the future.”
