Doug Berryann recently had a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce to commemorate the grand opening of his newest business, Doug The Inspector.

The gist

Berryann is the former owner of Doug The Plumber, which he sold in late 2023. Now, he offers residential and commercial inspection services for homes and buildings.

"Whether you're buying, selling, building or your warranty is expiring, I can take care of you," Berryann said.

What they offer

Berryann offers a range of inspection services, including:
  • Comprehensive home, which covers the foundation to the roof
  • Prepurchase, to determine any possible issues before a buyer moves forward with the purchase
  • Prelisting, to give sellers an idea of what may need to be considered or repaired before selling
  • New construction and builds, to give those whose homes have recently been built confirmation that everything meets regulations and expectations
  • Phases, to oversee the construction process with multiple inspections throughout the different stages
  • Home maintenance, which helps homeowners stay on top of any preventative work to avoid larger issues down the road

What else?

A master plumber since 2003, Berryann said he offers hydrostatic plumbing testing, which most home inspectors cannot offer as it requires a plumbing license.

Berryann said a hydrostatic plumbing test, also known as a static drain test, uses water pressure to detect leaks in a plumbing system.

"State law says I cannot work on the plumbing that I inspect for at least one year, but I can include the testing in my inspections," Berryann said.
