With a new coffee shop, a new space for a local music shop and the reopening of a food truck, Bastrop residents have several businesses and dining updates to look forward to in the area.

Now Open

Mr. Brew Coffee

This is the first location by owner Jaime Astorga; however, he said he plans to open a second spot on Research Boulevard in North Austin soon. Mr. Brew Coffee's drinks can be customized with add-ons like flavored drizzles, milk alternatives, extra shots, or a soft top—a cold foam made with heavy cream and milk, available in flavors. Classics like drip, Americano, chai and more are also available.

Radiant Juice Bar and Eatery

Owner DeLacey Martin reopened her eatery with new options in the former Johnson’s Bakery location in downtown Bastrop. The restaurant offers a completely gluten-free menu and bakery, in addition to a salad bar with protein options such as chicken, steak and salmon.

Smoked Love

After closing in early summer to recover from hand surgery, owner Thomas Witte reopened the BBQ joint in late August with a new menu and some new staff members.

Blakes Music Shop

Local owner Gary Blake will relocate from downtown Bastrop to the Colorado Crossing Shopping Center to offer a more expansive selection of instruments and accessories, increasing the shop’s square footage from 600 to 5,000. Blake said his team will also begin offering music lessons.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its first Bastrop spot in early 2025. Originally set to open this fall, Chipotle spokesperson Annie Gradinger said the new eatery is now slated for next year in Burleson Crossing. Chipotle offers create-your-own, Mexican-inspired food including burritos, tacos, salads, bowls, quesadillas and more.

Taxolote

Owner Jose Gerardo Cavazos said he closed his Northern Mexican food truck, Taxolote, in April after someone stole the electric cables from the truck at its location on the Community Gardens property. Cavazos said he plans to reopen soon at a new spot by the end of the year.

Club Car Wash

Club Car Wash plans to open a second location in Bastrop, but a representative from the company said a tentative opening date cannot be provided yet. The business provides car washes, membership options, vacuums and more to customers.

Relocations

Bastrop Utilities Department

The Bastrop Utility Services Department relocated to Spring Street in late September. Nestled between the Bastrop Public Library and the United States Post Office, the new site offers more public parking. Bastrop City Manager Sylvia Carrillo said improvements were made to bring the site into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, with more renovations. The department facilitates services including water, sewage, garbage, and electricity within Bastrop's city limits.
