Bastrop City Manager Sylvia Carrillo recently announced the Bastrop Utility Services Department will be moved to Spring Street in late September.

The new location will be nestled between the Bastrop Public Library and the United States Post Office.

Two-minute impact

During a regular Bastrop City Council meeting on Aug. 27, Carrillo said the move will provide a larger public parking area than at its current spot at 1311 Chestnut St.

"The building has been undergoing renovation and that lease also includes the parking lots next to it," Carillo said, noting that council members previously identified this as a need. "We do have some improvements to make on those parking lots, though, because they are prone to flooding."

Carrillo said the city will also enhance the site to make sure it is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What they offer
