The Bastrop Honor Choir is set to hold the organization's annual spring concert at 2 p.m. on May 19. Consisting of 20 elementary, middle and high school singers, the choir will present the hourlong concert at the First United Methodist Church in Bastrop on Main Street.

The concert will be followed by a donation bake sale in the fellowship hall.

How it started

The Honor Choir formed in 2009 as part of the Children's Advocacy Center's annual Child Abuse Prevention Month event. Since its conception, the choir has raised over $35,000 for the CAC, Dhoir Director Bill Owens said.

According to its website, the choir's name and focus is to honor children who have been abused and the lives of the group's singers, "people of peace, generosity and caring."

Each choir member is invited to join based on their good character and grades.
