Art in Public Places, a program of the city of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department, is seeking established and emerging artists who specialize in public art to apply for its 2017-2019 Pre-Qualified Artist Pool, a press release from the city of Austin said.
The Pre-Qualified Artist Pool help officials streamline the process for commissioning art in public spaces.
Professional visual artists and artist teams that live and work in the U.S. and are at least 18 years old are eligible to apply.
Possible projects include work with the Austin Convention Center, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Austin's departments of Transportation, Parks and Recreation and Public Health among others.
Project budgets are expected to range from $20,000 to $30,000, according to the press release.
Representatives from the department will host two artist informational meetings on Oct. 26 and Nov. 16. The first meeting will be held at the North Village Branch of Austin Public Library at 2505 Steck Ave., Austin, and the second will be held at the Howson Branch Library at 2500 Exposition Blvd., Austin.
All applications must be submitted through the Art in Public Spaces website,
www.publicartist.org, by Monday, Nov. 27, 2017.
