More than 315 Austin area musicians volunteered to perform at Austin evacuation shelters in less than 24 hours after the city of Austin Music Office announced the need Monday afternoon.
Melissa Alvarado, from the city of Austin’s Economic Development Department, said there’s no longer any need for live music at the shelters because of the overwhelming response the city received.

The music office initially said the Red Cross was looking for musicians willing to perform at local shelters at the Delco Center, LBJ High School and the Burger Center.
