Rich Phillips, owner of entertainment venue Hill Country Golf & Guitar, 15506 W. Hwy. 71, Bee Cave, announced Feb. 26 the miniature golf and Six String Grill site is for sale. Although the restaurant suspended food service Feb. 22, Phillips said the golf course and bar will remain open until the property changes hands. “One of the reasons [for the sale] is that I wasn’t happy with the consistency [of the venue] in terms of quality of service,” he said. Hill Country Golf & Guitar opened in November 2014, and Phillips said the venue earned more than $1.2 million in sales during its first year of operation. The business has served more than 100,000 customers since its opening, he said. “We did well during this winter but lost money,” he said. Phillips and his family were the sole owners and operators of the establishment, and he said the involvement of additional partners in its operations may have made a difference. “[We] saw a need for the venue in the community,” Phillips said. “My No. 1 goal is to make sure [Hill Country Golf & Guitar] doesn’t go away.” He said the 8-acre tract on which the venue sits is offered for $4.95 million and the operations for $325,000.
