The Cedar Park Center announced Jan. 8 that the Austin Aces, a Mylan World TeamTennis organization, will play its inaugural season at the arena.

Starting in July, home matches between the Austin Aces and the seven other professional teams will be played at the Cedar Park Center. Austin resident and former world No. 1 player Andy Roddick will lead the Aces as their marquee player.

"Cedar Park Center is proud to welcome the Austin Aces as an exciting new part of our sports programming," said Rick McLaughlin, Cedar Park Center general manager, in a statement. "We look forward to welcoming the Austin area's first professional tennis team and some of the sport's biggest names to our venue in July."

The team will play 14 regular matches throughout the month of July, including seven in Cedar Park. The Austin Aces join Mylan WTT after entrepreneur Lorne Abony purchased the Orange County–based team franchise and relocated the team to Austin in fall 2013.

Coach John Lloyd, a former professional tennis player and British Davis Cup captain, will lead a team of two men and two women. Team matches have five sets including men's singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.

This will be the first time a Mylan WTT team has played in the Austin area. According to a statement from the organization, the team's home match schedule will be released in early March.

"We are proud to welcome the Austin Aces, now the third professional sports team to call Cedar Park home," Cedar Park Mayor Matt Powell said. "World TeamTennis is family-friendly sports entertainment, and Cedar Park Center is an incredible venue for it. The opportunity to host world-class tennis in Cedar Park is incredibly exciting."

The Cedar Park Center is also home to the American Hockey League's Texas Stars, an affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, and the Austin Toros, the development affiliate of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. According to the Cedar Park Center, the arena hosts more than 130 events per year including sporting events, concerts and family shows.
