Just in time for the first day of school, the intersection of Rockhill Parkway and Coit Road is now open.

The intersection was closed for two months for reconstruction as part of a widening project of Virginia Parkway in McKinney according to the city’s communications office.

Virginia Parkway has been reconstructed as a four-lane divided roadway east of Coit Road.

West of Coit Road, a short section of Rockhill has been reconstructed as a four-lane divided roadway which transitions back to a two-lane roadway.

Traffic can travel continuously on Rockhill Parkway and Virginia Parkway between Preston Road and the city of McKinney. In addition, traffic can again travel continuously on Coit Road between US 380 and Rockhill Parkway/Virginia Parkway.

The city asks motorists to use caution in the construction zone until people become familiarized with the new traffic pattern.
