Since 2012, Intercept has quietly served as a lifeline for underserved families throughout the Magnolia area by providing essential support through several programs.
Operated by seven dedicated members and funded exclusively by private donations, the nonprofit has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of vulnerable families.
Today, Tiffani Johnson, Intercept’s secretary on the board of directors, said that despite its lasting impact and commitment to service, Intercept is facing significant financial challenges and is struggling to keep its doors open, putting critical programs that hundreds of local residents rely on at risk.
Staying local
In 2012, Johnson first came across the nonprofit organization as someone in need herself, she said.
“Intercept helped me for my babies for Christmas, and so to pay back the organization, I would assist in any way I could,” Johnson said.

Years later, Johnson said she continues as one of the only members keeping the nonprofit alive. Programs offered range from back-to-school backpack programs, Christmas toy drives, senior care packages and homeless care bag initiatives.
Johnson said over the years Intercept has donated 100-200 backpacks annually and helped 300-500 underserved families annually.
While the number of requests for help remains steady, Johnson said over the years the amount of help and donations received have declined to the point where the organization could be forced to close its doors.
How to help
To continue to serve the community, Johnson said Intercept is in need of monetary donations, volunteers and invites local businesses and organizations to partner with the nonprofit.
During its most recent operation, Intercept is asking for monetary donations for its back-to-school program as well as school supply donations.
