VR Cycling Studio offers Houston area cyclists a chance to climb mountains not found in Texas. Area residents can ride in some of the world's top cycling events, such as the Mont Ventoux, the Col du Tourmalet and the Tour de France, without leaving the region.
Cyclists hook their bikes into a simulator at the Magnolia studio and ride, watching a real race or training ride on large screens in front of them in high definition.
Through his simulators, owner Steve Elliott offers training for courses worldwide and on a variety of levels—from beginner to experienced. Elliott welcomes coaches to the studio to work with their athletes.
"It cost a lot of money to set up, but it was worth it," said Elliott, who opened the studio nearly two years ago with his wife, Barbara. "I built it the way I would want it as a cyclist."
