1. The Grand Parkway segments F-1, F-2 and G

Construction of the Grand Parkway is requiring several lane closures and traffic diversions on a number of roads near the project. Three segments—F-1, F-2 and G—of the project are under simultaneous construction and will total 37 miles of Houston’s third outer loop. The segments stretch from Hwy. 290 to Hwy. 59 and feature major overpasses and interchanges at Hwy. 290 in Cypress, Hwy. 249 in Tomball and I-45.

The Grand Parkway Segment F-2 lane closures

Ongoing work requires a northbound and southbound traffic shift on Boudreaux Road from Champion Forest to Max Conrad drives from 9 a.m. Nov. 6 to 4 p.m. Nov. 27. 2. FM 149 improvements

The project is designed with various turn lanes on FM 149 from its intersection with Spur 149 to north of FM 1488. The three-location project includes pavement widening and markings as well as the relocation of an existing traffic signal at FM 149 and FM 1488. Timeline: late 2014-winter 2016 Cost: $3.7 million Funding sources: TxDOT

3. FM 2978 widening

3A.The project is designed to widen the road to four lanes from FM 1488 to Conroe-Hufsmith Road in two sections. The northern 4-mile portion of FM 2978 from FM 1488 to just south of Dry Creek will be sent out for bid in February. The construction project consists of bridge widening, a sound wall, sidewalks and roadway widening. 3B.The southern 2.5-mile portion of FM 2978 from just south of Dry Creek to Conroe-Hufsmith Road will be sent out for bid in December. The project consists of roadway widening only. Timeline: February 2016-August 2018 (northern portion), December 2015-June 2017 (southern portion) Cost: $21 million Funding sources: TxDOT, federal funding (northern portion), Proposition 1 (southern portion)

4. Honea Egypt Road widening

The project is designed to widen Honea Egypt Road in Magnolia from two to four lanes with an additional continuous center-turn lane from the intersection of FM 2978 and FM 1488 to the intersection of Ranch Lake and Sendera Ranch drives. The project, which is 50 percent complete, had a delayed start due to the construction of the San Jacinto River Authority water pipelines. 5. FM 1488 overpass at FM 149

Louisiana-based contractor James Construction Group began work in March on the project. The overpass has encountered delays due to a relocation of utilities, TxDOT officials said. The overpass will feature two sets of cloverleaf access ramps, including one on either side of FM 1488 near Magnolia High School and another across the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad at FM 149. The road will be widened from one lane in each direction to four lanes total with a 16-foot turn lane in the median along FM 1488 from the Mostyn Manor subdivision to Mill Creek Road. 6. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road Segment 1 widening

Menade Construction is widening the road from two to four lanes from just south of Spring Cypress Road to Hollow Glen Lane. Segment 6 of the project, which is now expected to span from Mahaffey Road to FM 2920, is in the design phase and is expected to be sent out for bid in mid-2016.
